Embracing a lifestyle of wellness embodies all aspects of your life. While getting to the gym and/or creating a new routine for moving your body (Walking the Dog, Yoga at home… etc) that is really only a small portion of your day. The rest of your time can either support your efforts or undermine.
I have had clients who came to the gym for 1-hour interval training classes, 6 days a week. Inevitably, the conversation would come up that they were frustrated with the lack of results in their overall appearance, which lead to the question of “What are you eating?”
It is truly amazing, that while the activity has been incorporated, the eating habits remained the same. You are what you eat, and becoming mindfully aware of the sources of energy you are providing your body, can make all the difference in achieving your goals. Replace carbonated drinks with water, or cold loose leaf tea. Rooibos tea is a different plant than regular tea, and has no caffeine and offers multiple health benefits. David’s Tea online https://www.davidstea.com/ offers amazing varieties of tea, and loose leaf tea when it goes cold tastes amazing. Make a pot in the morning, and let it sit for the day, (Use less leaves or it will be so strong!) and when you get home from work, pour it into a pitcher, and enjoy.
Make a journal of what you are eating, and determine how much of your food, is processed or packaged. There is a great website that hospitals recommend to new diabetics to track and manage their food. Spark People is free of charge and has an app that you can use on your phone to help you through the day. While life is certainly busy, there are multiple habits, that I help clients develop to ensure that they have quick access to healthy, fresh food that feeds and nourishes their bodies. Once these habits are embraced, they find that the work in the gym becomes more impactful, and visible changes occur in their bodies.
